The biographies of each Milontaler family member are spotty at best. Louis Millionthaler was born in Russia in 1837 and immigrated to the North End of Boston by 1870. He and his wife Pesha had at least four children: Fanny, Esther, Sarah and Maurice.

Maurice legally changed his last name from Millionthaler to Milontaler in 1907. He and his wife Frances owned and operated several businesses in the Greater Boston area, including Avenue Bazaar in Brockton.
